What Does 38 Years of Experience Mean to You?
Before You Buy An Electric Hospital Bed, we ask you the following
questions:
1. Are you really interested in an
Adjustable
Bed or a Hospital Bed?
Both an Adjustable Bed and a Hospital Bed come standard with two motors: One for Head Up and Head Down; One for Foot Up and Foot Down. A Hospital Bed comes standard 36" wide and 80" long. An Adjustable Bed comes standard with Twinsize Width: 38" wide. Most people d"de to buy an Adjustable Bed when they only need two motors. When you need the 3rd motor: The Motor Electrically elevates the entire Bed Up and Down. People need the 3rd motor to help them get in and out of bed - or to transfer to a wheelchair. Also, Nurses appreciate the 3rd motor that helps them turn the patient over. A hospital bed comes standad with a Manual Crank on the 2-Motor Versions to Elevate the Bed Up and Down Manually. This is OK if a person needs a particular height without a lot of changes. Hospital Bed is not very pretty (like an Adjustable Bed) but it is more functional if you need Side Rails, Trapeze Bar, Semi-Height Elevation, etc. Otherwise, though, an Adjustable Bed is a little more comfortable (instead of a cot-type link spring for a "boxspring" - on an Adjustable Bed, the mattress sits upon 6" of foam foundation.). The Semi-Electric 2-Motor Hospital Bed and the Standard 2-Motor Adjustable Bed are the same price.
2. How much do you weigh and how tall are you?
Hospital Beds come standard with a weight capability of 350 pounds. Some hospital beds come standard with a 450 pound weight capability. Medicare considers anyone over 350 pounds entitled to a Heavy-Duty Model. Hospital Beds are available in 600 pound and 1000 pound versions. If you are over 6 feet tall, some hospital beds come in the 84" length.
3. What size are you interested in?
Again, Hospital Beds come standard with a 36" width (2" smaller than the regular size of a Twinsize Bed) and 80" length. Hospital-type Headboards and Footboards come as standard equipment. Medicare will usually pay for the rental of a Hospital Bed - NOT AN ADJUSTABLE BED. 2-Motor and 3-Motor Versions of Hospital Beds are available in Twin, Full, Queen and Dual King sizes.
4. What type of Hospital Bed Mattress and Mattress Firmness are you interested in for your Hospital Bed?

Hospital Beds come standard with a vinyl covered innerspring unit. They are "OK" for Rentals - or if the customer needs a mattress that is very waterproof. Also, basic foam mattresses are available. We, though, recommend for permanent home use the deluxe innerspring mattress with (4) four layers of padding on both sides - designed to be the ultimate in comfort for innerspring uses - direct from the Electropedic factory at no additional charge. For those with muscle, bone and nerve aches and pains we would highly recommend the genuine latex foam mattress - that is pure comfort! Please call 800-528-3974 for best information on mattresses. Genuine Tempur-pedic Swedish Memory NASA Foam is also available. The Semi-Electric 2-Motor Hospital Bed and the Standard 2-Motor Adjustable Bed are the same price.
5. Is the Optional 3rd Motor important to you (whole bed goes up and
down)?
The 3rd Motor, again, is important if you are very short and have trouble
getting into bed; important if you may be transfering into a wheel chair
- to get the bed at the same height as the wheelchair; important if you are
under nurses care. The additional price is only $300. more from the
standard two motor Hospital Bed.
6. Are you interested in Optional Side Rails or Trapeze-Bar for your
Hospital
Bed?
