We welcome you into the family of Electropedic Stair Lifts.  Since 1964, we are the manufacturer of the Electropedic Bed.  In 1985, we expanded into a full line of Electric Medical Equipment.

Before you buy an Electric Stair Lift, compare Price, Quality, Guarantee and Service.  To give you a price and recommendation, we first need to know if your stair lift is basically straight up and down (and approximately how many feet or steps) - or is it a custom right angle or curved unit (although many people buy (2) two straight units to save on the price of a custom unit.)

New Straight Units have a Suggested Retail price usually between $2895.00 and (outdoor units) $5495.00.  Used Stair Lifts are always 1/2 OFF! Custom Curved Units usually run between $12,500 and $15,000.

Most people buy a straight, inside the home unit.  Some people need an outdoor unit.  Some people need a unit that goes into a commerical setting (although Acorn has a standard key switch.)

We need your confirmation that your stair case is made out of wood; and also a confirmation that your bottom floor or landing is either wood, concrete or marble.  (It is always recommended that the unit be installed resting on the landing; although, it is not always "wanted" or practical.  Some models have a flip up bottom track that is not attached to the floor - and can also get out of the way of any passage way or door.)

The unit is ideally installed about 6 to 8" pass the lip of the top stair so you can exit the unit is a comfortable sitting position.

We explain to you that the track for the units are not installed onto the wall, but rest on the steps.  The rail is installed onto the stairway with about 8 brackets.

We find out if you are planning to put the unit on the left side or the right side (we always ask if you are downstairs, looking up . . . what side are you planning to install your stairway lift.)  Then we may ask you to confirm if there are any side rails or doors or access ways that may get in the way.  

We are also going to need an outlet somewhere close to the stairway unit.

We explain how most units are actually powered by their batteries.  You are actually plugging in a battery charger.  This system means that your stair lift will also work during a power outage.

Then we may ask about your height and weight.  Most units have a 275 Pound weight capability; but there are specific units with a 350, 400 and 500 pound weight capability.

We ask your height to make sure the unit will fit your height properly.  Most units have a footrest height adjustment (good for people who are short); but some units also have a seat height adjustment; which is beneficial to those 6 feet and taller.

Then we ask your health conditions.  Units are designed so they can be used without anyone else's assistance.  All units come with a seat belt; and the units are made to go upstairs and downstairs at the simple touch of a button.  The button control is usually put on the right side, so we need to know if both hands are working the same.  The new unit by Acorn has the controls coming standard on both sides.  We need to know if you are going to be operating the unit yourself, or with someone.  All units come standard with both top and bottom remote controls; so someone else can be actually pushing the bottons.

Some people cannot bend their legs into a sitting position; and there are units that allow you to perch or stand.

We need to know if once you are at the top or bottom of the stairway, if you are going to be transfering to a walker or a wheelchair.  All units have a swivel seat for the stop, some units swivel both top and bottom; all units have flip up arm rests except the SRE-1550 which have special swing-away (horizontal) arm rests.

Are you going to install yourself or do you need our assistance?  We have a factory trained Stair Lift Installer on our staff to assist in your installation.  If you are planning to put it in yourself, most people buy the 16 foot or 20 foot rails and do the final cutting themselves.  The Summit Stair Lift Manufacturer will cut the rail to the exact size you need (we need you to take an actual measurement from the very top lip of the stairway to the landing).

Who will install my Bruno stairlift?

All Bruno stairlifts are sold, installed, and serviced by our world wide network of dealers. Bruno stairlift dealers are factory trained to evaluate your specific mobility needs and help you choose the best stairlift solution along with providing professional installation and service.

What is the length of the warranty on a Bruno stair lift?

Bruno stairlifts come with our Gold Warranty which features 2 years on all parts and 5 years on major components that include the main drive system (i.e. gear box, motor, and rail system). The warranty is valid on all Bruno stairlift units that have been installed by Bruno factory-trained dealers, providing you with years of worry-free access up and down your staircase.

What type of modification will be needed on my staircase for the unit to fit?

In most cases there will be no modification needed. That's because Bruno stairlift models are designed to fit your existing staircase using our clamping systems which mount directly to the treads of your steps. No structural modification to your wall or staircase is required.

How narrow can my staircase be?

Depending on which Bruno stairlift model you choose, the unit - in its operating position - will take up about 24"-26". The user's knees when seated in the Bruno stairlift, are generally what take up the most room. This is why we recommend a 32" wide staircase. (Please keep in mind that some local building codes require a wider staircase.) Fitting a stairlift on tighter a staircase is possible and should be reviewed with your local Bruno dealer.

How quickly can I get a Bruno stairlift?

Many of our local Bruno dealers have units in stock for straight-rail applications. Bruno also stocks units for most straight rail applications for quick shipment from our Wisconsin headquarters. Please contact your local Bruno dealer to evaluate your staircase for curved-rail applications and to determine a lead time.

How long does it take to install a Bruno stairlift?

A Bruno factory-trained stairlift dealer can typically install most units in less than half a day with many installations taking just an hour or two. The installer will make sure that you are completely trained on the operation of the unit and be in and out of our home with little interruption to your day.

Can a Bruno stairlift be installed in my church or lodge?

Yes, but the requirements for these types of buildings are different than residential installations. Please contact the local Bruno stairlift dealer to review all the requirements for installation.

What happens if I lose power in my house?

All Bruno stairlifts are battery powered and will continue to operate even if power is lost in your home. The unit will typically run for 3-4 days or 15-20 trips without being recharged. When your power comes back on, the batteries will recharge automatically.

How long will the batteries last?

Batteries used on Bruno stairlifts will typically last 3-5 years depending on the use and application of the unit. Replacement batteries can be purchased from your Bruno dealer.

I have a staircase that turns; will a Bruno stairlift fit?

Yes, Bruno's model Electra-RideTM III is designed to be custom fitted for any staircase configuration and can be installed on either side of most staircases to best fit your house.

  Now you can enjoy owing a pickup truck along with the advantage of storing your folding wheelchair inside, out of the weather.

  The Back-Saver is simple to operate and does not require any manual lifting. Just fold the chair up and roll the chair onto the platform. Turn the key to the ON position and depress the rocker switch to the UP position. Unloading the chair is just as simple and trouble-free.

  The Back-Saver is rated to handle most folding wheelchairs with 22-inch or larger rear wheels, weighing 70 lbs. or less.

  Bruno's Back-Saver will fit a standard Class I hitch tongue or a Class II or Class III if an adapter is used. And the Back-Saver features a strong tubular frame, for structural rigidity and long term durability.
